Businessman arraigned for allegedly obtaining money by false pretense

The proprietor of Sunu Gam, Sheriff Jallow is facing charges of obtaining money by false pretense with five different people.

He was arraigned yesterday before magistrate Mam Samba Jallow at the Kanifing court and he pleaded not guilty to all charges.

On the first count, Jallow is accused of intending to defraud and obtained D280,000 from one Fatou Barrow for the sale of a plot of land situated at Farato Jambur.

On count two, Jallow is accused of intending to defraud and obtained D375,000 from one Binta Manneh for the sale of a plot of land situated at Tanjai, D65,000 from Mamdou Saidou Sowe, D53,800 from Muhammed Cessay for the sale of a plot of land at Farato Jambur and D35,000 from Sainabou Sowe for the sale of land at Nyofelleh village.

Sub-inspector Lamin Jammeh appeared for the IGP, and pleaded for an adjournment for the hearing.

The court adjourned the matter to 7th October.
