By Omar Bah The Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces General Masanneh Kinteh has extolled President Adama Barrow for entrusting him with the army leadership. Addressing soldiers recently at the 22 July Square, CDS Kinteh who recently took over the mantle from General Ousman Bargie, said: “As the day mark my first occasion, since my recall and reinstatement into our armed forces as the CDS, I would like to express my profound gratitude to His Excellency President Adama Barrowfor the trust and confidence he has in me for leading our armed forces for the second time,” he said. He reassured government of his unflinching support and loyalty to serving the interest of the Gambian people. “I would do all I can within my powers to ensure that the country remain peaceful. As security officers we will together ensure that peace and tranquillity is jealously guarded in our country,” he added. CDS Kinteh also reserved some praises for the outgoing CDS, General Ousman Bargie, describing him as a true son of the Gambia. “I will not do justice if I don’t congratulate General Bargie for his service to the country and in particular for his outstanding leadership of the army during the most trying times of Gambia’s political history as a nation,” CDS Kinteh said. He continued: “In the same vein I wish to thank the British Armed Forces through the British Ambassador and the defence attaché accredited to the Gambia for the facilitation of the pre-deployment training through the Royal Gibraltar regiment”.]]>
