The delegation From Fifa comprised of Francesco Broscoli, strategic planner, Ian Riley, marketing consultant, Klaus StaerK, technical expert and Sampong Kablan the Fifa development officer for West Africa.
During their visit, the specialists held talks with the GFF, government officials, the media and other stakeholders and compiled a report which they presented to the GFF at a retreat on Saturday.
Addressing the press at the retreat, Broscolli said the Fifa performance programme aims at strengthening the capacity of the GFF to ensure greater efficiency. The request was made by the GFF and it was approved by the Fifa Development Committee. He said the programme was a continuous process lasting until another few years during which Fifa experts would be coming to Banjul regularly.
GFF President Mustapha Kebbeh described the Fifa performance programme as “a great opportunity” for the development of Gambian football. “The areas covered under this programme are key to the overall development of football. That’s why we as a body are very delighted to have reached this agreement with Fifa,” he said.
