They include the refurbishment of the National Technical Training centre and the first ever regional artificial turf at the Lower River Region. Progress on the implementation of one and signing of the other was halted after Fifa appointed a normalisation Ccommittee to oversee a transition period.
But over the weekend the Fifa development officer for Africa, Ngoufonga Zelkfli Rahman, accompanied by the officer responsible for West Africa, Sampon Kablan, visited Banjul and after talks with the GFF, it emerged that all is clear again for the future of the projects
Ebou Faye, the GFF second VP, told The Standard that they have discussed the resumption of the projects as well as other football development projects that would require Fifa assistance. “As you know, during normalisation Fifa programmes stopped, but now that we have come out of the transition, Fifa programmes shall continue,” he said.
He described the talks with the Fifa officials as very fruitful.
Asked about the state of the contract for the refurbishment of the technical centre which was reported to be waiting for signatures before normalisation came, Faye would not give specific answers to that only saying they are looking into all that.
