Sanneh is the first Gambian to reach the semi final at an Olympic Game in the sprints. He made that record in London in the 2012 games.
“But it must be understood that we can only go as far as our resources and those of our partners such as the GNOC, MoYS and IAAF can take us.,” GAA president Dodou Joof said yesterday while commenting on the country’s preparations for coming events.
He then clarified that contrary to earlier reports, the GAA’s total financial assistance to Swaibou Sanneh since 2012 is USD6,473.72, and not USD9,000 as reported in 2014,” he said.
On the coming African junior championships, the GAA boss said they will work with the GNOC and others partners to see whether The Gambia can have a representation in the games to take place in Mauritius in April.
