Some 238 candidates will know their fate in less that 48 hours as Gambians go back to the polls tomorrow to elect 53 deputies for the next parliament to be inaugurated on April 11.
It is the biggest election the Gambia ever organized with over nine parties and other independent groups contesting for seats across the country.
According to the Independent Electoral Commission, the votes will be counted on the spot, as it was the case in the presidential election last December.
“It is expected that all results would be in by midnight Thursday,’ an official said yesterday.
The GDC is in the lead in the list of candidates with 52, while the UDP sponsored 44 and PDOIS 22. PPP, GMC and NRP each has a few in addition to scores of independent candidates.
