The Gambia has been handed a tough draw for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to be played in Cameroon.
Again, 24 countries will qualify to the finals and The Gambia will be among those still searching for their first ticket to the party.
The first hurdle in The Gambia’s path may look seemingly easy; a two-legged knockout against Djibouti in October.
Even this should not be taken lightly but if that does not worry you and you think The Gambia can easily go through, then welcome to Group D, featuring DR Congo, Angola and Gabon.
Obviously all these three countries are moons ahead of The Gambia in terms of achievement and therefore it is The Gambia’s job to do some catching up .
Only the first and second place finishers are assured of automatic place in the finals in Cameroon in the summer of 2021.There would be 12 groups of 4 teams.
The winners and runners-up will qualify from each group except in Group F where host Cameroon will automatically qualify with the highest placed of the other 3 teams.
