Saikou Jarju the president of NISA said they had to pick the GCCA because their current champions Armed Forces are not immediately available for the competition due to their official duties. ”But we are confident that the GCCA who are our vice champions are equally capable of flying The Gambia’s flag in this year’s tourney,” Mr Jarju said.
Each year, for several years now, NISA’s champions represent the country in the annual workers sports festival organised between workers from all of the 14 regions in Senegal and The Gambia. Gambian teams have won the football trophy more than three times including last year when Armed Forces were crowned overall champions on home soil.
This year’s edition will take place in Ndar, Saint Louis in northern Senegal. The Gambian delegation leaves town today.]]>
