The Gambia Food Processing and Marketing Corporation, formerly and better known as GGC, has announced the official closure of the groundnut market season yesterday after purchasing a total of 46,000 metric tons, spending some D1 billion on groundnut.

“It is with great pride that we acknowledge our hardworking farmers and the increase in productivity recorded during this year’s season as we surpassed the Corporation’s actual target. The challenges notwithstanding, give us great joy that we have all discharged our responsibilities to the best of our abilities. At the close of the 2021/22 crop year, the Corporation purchases stood at forty-six thousand metric tonnes (46,000Mt), breaking the 10-year-old record of 37,000 Mt set in the 2011/2012 crop year,” GGC said in a statement.
