Adama Kelepha Samba has issued a statement denying rumours that he has withdrawn his bid for Banjul mayor in May’s municipal election.

Samba, better known as ‘Hala’, wrote in the statement issued yesterday: “I wish to inform the general public that there is no iota of truth in the said disparaging remarks as I am ever more determined to enter the contest for the Banjul mayoral seat under an independent ticket.

“I am resolved, together with my team of councilors and the people of Banjul, to bring about the much needed development to the doorstep of every Banjulian.”

While other parties are yet to select their candidates for the election, the Gambia Democratic Congress last week announced Pa Musa Ndiaye as its standardbearer.
