IEC says GAP mistaken party colour

Sambujang Njie, the chief electoral officer at the IEC has confirmed receiving a letter from the Gambia Action Party, GAP drawing their attention to a possible colour clash with the National People’s Party, NPP.

GAP had said they were given grey and silver as their party colours and were therefore surprised that grey was also given to the NPP.
However, according to IEC official, GAP was only given silver and not grey or any other colour. “As far as our records show, GAP’s colour is not grey but silver. And in any case the colour given to NPP is dark grey,” Mr Njie stated.

He observed that GAP must have mistaken their own colour because even in all their documents with the IEC their preferred colour was silver. “We had to resort to giving a blend of colours since primary colours are almost exhausted and we are always diligently checking to avoid colour clash whenever a party applies for colour and symbols,” he said.
