Italy boat disaster: 3 dead, Gambian arrested

The three include 29-year old Gambian Landing Bojang, a Malian Ahmed Camara and a Nigerian. The Italian police said the men had put 103 migrants on a 10-meter long boat with no flag or identification marking.

The ‘back way’ boat of African migrants was spotted in international waters on Monday by an English merchant ship K-Stream whose crew alerted the Italian Flying Squad.  During the ensuing rescue mission rescue attempt, three of the migrants died while Bojang and his cohorts were arrested. It is not clear according to the reports whether there was a Gambian among the dead.
