The former National Assembly Member for Banjul North, Abdoulie Saine will open his defence today before the Banjul Magistrates Court two weeks after the prosecution closed its case in his trial.
Mr Saine, who is represented by barrister Moses Richard, is accused of inciting violence by uttering a statement on ‘WhatsApp’ using derogative remarks against an entire Mandingo tribe.
Mr Saine however denied any wrong doing while his lawyer described the trial as “politically motivated” and urged the court to unconditionally discharge and acquit Mr Saine.
