The development which has not been made official is believed to have been effected yesterday. Sources indicate that Mr Ben Wilson who was recently made Mr Sonko’s assistant, has now taken over as the head of the Gambia Police Force. Wilson was until recently the commissioner of police for West Coast Region.
Contacted for comment on the latest movements in the force, spokesman ASP David Kujabi, told The Standard: “I do not have any official confirmation because I did not go to the office today. I would not be able to say anything authoritatively but then just like the way you heard of it, that is how I also heard it. It has not been actually made official. I cannot make a statement on that.”
Contacted, Mr Sonko said: “I have no comment to make on the matter now. You should contact the police PRO.”
Meanwhile, it has also been reported that Commissioner Landing Bojang has been assigned to oversee the office of deputy inspector general.
However, Bojang was also unavailable for immediate comment on the matter.
