Speaking to The Standard newspaper yesterday, ASP Kujabi revealed: “On the 15th of March 2014, the patient Bubacarr Fadera was chained to a tree and beaten by the accused Karamo Njie. We believe he died because of the injuries sustained on the head and hands. He has been charged with murder as a result. Before this, the deceased, according to witnesses, had stoned one Siaka Njie with a stone who sustained injuries as a result of which he was being punished.”
Asked whether the charge was laid as a consequence of the outcome of the postmortem conducted on the deceased at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul, ASP Kujabi said: “I am sorry, we cannot share that with you. That’s our own thing, not for you.” He is yet to be arraigned.
