Promoted Italian Serie A club SPAL have pulled off an incredible transfer coup by agreeing a fee with Swedish side Malmö FF for Gambian left-back Pa Momodou Konate.
A deal between the two clubs has been agreed and Konate will now discuss personal terms before undergoing a medical on Thursday and signing a four-year contract.
Konate’s ticket to Italy together with his agent’s, Nima Modyr, was booked and they travelled to Bologna on Wednesday to complete the transfer.
The 23-year-old came through the Malmö academy before some loan time with Östers IF in 2014. He joined Malmö’s first-team in 2013 and has since attracted a lot of attention from European clubs notably Genoa, Crotone and FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
Konate, whose mother is Gambian and born in Malmö, is understood to have expressed interest in playing for the Scorpions but is yet to receive any serious approach.
