Sukuta Heath Centre will be upgraded from minor to a major health center, Regional Health Director for West Coast Alhagie Sankareh announced Saturday.
He was presiding over the launching of a construction project initiated by the people of Sukuta and their Diaspora community in the UK through the Sukuta Trust Fund.
Mr Sankareh praised the people of the town and their diasporans for prioritising health care in their town.
The National Assembly Member for Sanementereng Baba Galleh Jallow used the occasion to call on government to provide a referral hospital for the constituency or increase ambulances since the population in the area is growing.
The chairman of the Trust Fund Buba Cham revealed that the project will construct a laundry house fitted with state-of-the-art facilities which will help a long way in maintaining hygiene in the center. The foundation laying of the project attracted a huge attendance by the people of Sukuta led by Alkalo Kawsu Cham who thanked the people involved in initiating project and called for unity to achieve even more development in. Issa Cham Manneh who represented the diasporan community disclosed that Sukutarians abroad are keen on investing in development projects in their home town and that more projects are in the pipeline for the Trust Fund to implement.
