SUPER CUP CLASH AT KG 5

The 2014-15 football season gets under way this weekend with the Super Cup final between champions Real de Banjul and the proud FA Cup winners Banjul United tomorrow afternoon.

Real de Banjul may be in the best of form, rallying an array of top class players in an unrivaled organisational set-up but their record in last year’ FA Cup championship has shown that they are not good managers of one-match situations. They lost to least-fancied teams in the FA Cup, an unpleasant experience that cost them all prospects of landing the double last season.

They are now faced with a similar task tomorrow at the KG5 ground against Banjul United, who proved to be the revelation of the season with a devastating display that momentarily sent shockwaves around the league.

Though Banjul United could not sustain their initial stunning momentum for the entire period of the marathon 22 title chase, but were specialists in knocking out opponents in tie-breaking matches which landed them the prestigious FA cup.

The match offers technicians and fans a first insight into the new look of the teams with Real especially announcing at least one signing while United kept faith with the bunch that landed them the FA Cup last season. The game kicks off at 4.30pm.
