A woman, identified as Binta Fatty, has reportedly died in a Kerewan main garden well.
According to sources, the tragedy occurred on Friday morning when Binta went to the garden to harvest vegetables and accidentally fell into the well.
Badou Jawara, a teacher at Kerewan Upper Basic School and a cousin to Binta, said when she fell into the well her grandson rushed and called two women who were also in the garden for help but they were not able to rescue her. “Then he rushed home to call the villagers some of whom rushed to the garden with motor bikes. Upon our arrival, the youth removed her from the well and took her to the health centre where the doctors pronounced her dead,” he explained.
She was laid to rest the same day at Kerewan.
Binta, left behind 10 children.
