Fourteen people from Banjulinding in Kombo North recently appeared before the magistrates’ court in Brikama slammed with single count of assault causing actual bodily harm.
The accused persons are Husai Jallow, Sunkari Bojang, Lala Krubally, Mariama Sumareh, Bubacarr Manjang, Sainabou Janneh, Jankey Sumareh, Jainaba Gikineh, Fatoumata Jabbi, Awa Badjie, Assan Gitteh, Ansuman Jarju, Aja Feli Sanneh and Tombong Jarju.
According to the indictment, the accused persons on 4 April 2020 at Banjulinding, all unlawfully assaulted Kairaba Fatty by hitting him with a stone on his head causing him injury.
When the charge was read to them however, they did not take their plea on the ground that the accused persons were brought in large numbers against the Covid-19 pandemic regulations.
The police prosecutor Cadet ASP Buteh Sawaneh alongside 9046 Bangura applied for adjournment. The magistrate Anna Mendy granted the prosecution’s application.
