2 suspects arrested with help of CCTV footage

Police have confirmed that the two women allegedly caught in a widely circulated CCTV video footage stealing from a garment shop have been identified and arrested.

The police said they received a complaint on Saturday that over D200,000 was stolen from a garment shop at Serekunda market with the complainant alleging that his CCTV surveillance captured two unidentified women in veil believed to be the suspects after which they swiftly opened an investigation into the matter.

According to the Poliso Magazine, preliminary investigations revealed the two veiled suspects to be Kumba Secka and Mai Baldeh and that during investigations, they recovered some D128, 050. 00 and several new clothes bought by the duo probably from the stolen money. “They are currently helping police in their ongoing investigations to recover the rest of the stolen items,” the police said.
