ActionAid engages policy makers, law enforcers on child rights issues

By Olimatou Coker ActionAid International The Gambia completes a day-long training on child rights and legal instruments, engaging policy makers and various law enforcement agencies. Speaking at the school of tourism and hospitality institute in Kanifing – where the training was organised – Yadicon Njie Eribo, the national coordinator of Fawegam, told the participants to learn from one another in order to inform policies and laws especially, “those that will affect the women and children.” She regrets that often many times than not young people are “easily forgotten” by policy makers, demanding a stop to that now. “If children are assured of an environment that is free of all forms of violence and abuse, then our future as a nation will be guaranteed,” the national coordinator said.]]>
