The US Council of Muslim Organisations, USCMO, over the weekend proffered its most prestigious award on Gambian justice minister Abubacarr Tambadou.
The award was given in recognition of Mr Tambadou’s giant strides in the promotion and protection of the rights of the Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar.
Last year, Tambadou filed and won a case at the International Court for The Gambia which demanded that the Rohingyas’ rights are protected.
Because of the case, the ICC ordered Myanmar to halt any further acts of genocide against the Rohingya people.
The USCMO is among Muslim groups around the world who supported The Gambia’s case. Tambadou told the group that he was delighted they have recognised the efforts of The Gambia in the matter of the Rohingyas.
