Athletics House soon

There is Olympic House and Football House. But according the Gambia Athletics Association, GAA, there will soon be Athletics House too.
A mighty complex to house the offices and other needs of the GAA is well into construction on land situated south of the Independence Stadium.

The GAA president Joof said the complex will also contain a hall among other facilities and once completed, it will be the center of all athletics administration and home of Gambian athletics.
“It is not easy but with determination and support we shall complete the building soon. It is very important for all sports to have a good office and infrastructure,” he said.

Successful championship
Meanwhile the Secretary general of the GAA Arthur Jackson has described the recent championship as the most thrilling in recent history.
“The showdown in the 200m semi finals in which Adama Jammeh’s title hopes of retaining was threatened when he was defeated by Assan Faye. Fortunately for Adama, he won the 200m final,” Jackson said.
However Adama lost the 100m title to Ebrahima Ceesay who is the new 100 meters champion of the Gambia.
