Bakau community cleanse fish market, beach

The community of Bakau led by their National Assembly Member Assan Touray on Saturday organised a massive cleansing exercise at the Bakau fish market and the nearby beach.

Basiro Gassama , the Public Relations Officer of the Bakau Committee, told The Standard that one of their main objectives in cleaning the beach is not only because of hygiene, but also to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness which is godliness. He said a clean environment makes work easy for everybody.
“Bakau attracts tourists and what they see is what they will tell their people back home which is not good for our development of our country,” he said.

The councilor for Old Bakau Cape Point Ward, Abdoulie M. Jallow, hailed the community of Bakau for supporting efforts to keep the environment healthy and clean.
The National Assembly member for Bakau also expressed gratitude for the turnout of the youth and community members which he said demonstrates unity and cooperation of the people of Bakau.
The PRO Gasama also reminded that next Saturday there will be another bigger cleansing exercise in Bakau.
