“This marathon is the oldest road race in The Gambia. It started with the July 22 Revolution in 1994 and having come this far. With lots of communities in Njawara, Bajana, Farafenni among others taking inspiration from it, it is only appropriate that we take the lead again in organising a full 42km race,” said Ba Jabbie, chairman of the Brufut Marathon Association.
Alongside the 42km there will still be the 21km half marathon and the 10km which has been a regular feature of the event.
Registration for the event has started and prospective runners and sponsors from both The Gambia and abroad can contact 9918563, 9905966 and 6661671 to register or start talks on modalities.
