A number of Gambian sports personalities were among recipients of the prestigious annual Casa- Film, Music and Empowerment of Women (CFM/EW) award.
The CFM-EW was formed by legendary Senegalese actress Binta Kujabie now resident in the USA. Staged by CFM’s affliate Dijibonket Foundation, the award is dedicated to recognising people in the Senegambia region who have positively impacted the lives of the people in various fields.
This year, the award ceremony took place in The Gambia for the first time. Among those recognised from The Gambia included Goodwill Sports Ambassador Tijan Jaiteh, Gambia Football Faderation president Lamin Kaba Bajo, his 3rd VP Lang Tombong Tamba, and posthumously, muscians Tata-Dingding Jobaterh and Musa Ngum. Solomon Tamba, owner of the Kunta Kinteh Hotel was also decorated.
All recipients were decorated for their personal contributions toward the betterment of humanity in one-way or the other.
Goodwill Sports Ambassador Tijan Jaiteh thanked the organisers for the award.
Lamin B Sanneh, the president of the CFM/EW said in a letter to Ambassador Jaiteh: “You are recognised as an extraordinary man who has manifested a legacy that continues to inspire others”.
Amb. Jaiteh replied with delight that this is another achievement in his career. “I consider the award not a gift but a recognition of my efforts and an encouragement to work [even] harder”, he said.
