Chinese Embassy marks 100 years of CPC, world political parties summit

The Chinese Embassy in Banjul recently marked 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the world’s summit for more than 500 leaders of political parties. The summit was held online in Beijing.

The summit aims to strengthen exchange and mutual learning of experiences in governance between the CPC and political parties worldwide, jointly respond to challenges brought by changes unseen in a century and the global Covid-19 pandemic, enhance the philosophy and capability of seeking happiness for the people, advance world peace and development, and promote the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity.

Speaking to the press at the embassy, H.E Ma Jianchun, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to The Gambia, said this is a very special significance for China. Over the past 100 years, the CPC has led the Chinese people on an arduous journey to founding the new China.

“It established a socialist system advanced socialist theory implemented reform and opening-up policy and found a path of development suitable to china’s reality, that is socialism with Chinese characterizes”.

Ambassador Ma Jianchun said the communist party of china and the world political parties summit was successfully held in Beijing and the summit is made for the well being of the people and the responsibilities of the political parties

“China has acquired tremendous achievement in the economic, political field. People’s well-being has been greatly improved with the elimination of extreme poverty”.

He pointed out that under the leadership of CPC, China has been supporting Africa’s independence and development. African people are a good friends of the Chinese people and China-Africa Cooperation is a model of cooperation among developing countries. 

“The CPC looks forward to cooperating with African countries political parties and government explore ways to support Africa’s development, share experiences in governance, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind and an even stronger China-Africa community with a shared future, ” he lamented

Hu Zhaoming, spokesperson for the  Department of the CPC Central Committee, said the summit is “for the people’s wellbeing; the responsibility of political parties.” Hu said more than 500 leaders of political parties and political organizations from 160-plus countries, and 10,000 party representatives targeted.

He added that the summit is an important multilateral diplomatic event held at a time when the CPC marks its centenary.

Gambian political parties were also highly represented.
