The chief of protocol and welfare officer at the Gambian embassy in Guinea Bissau has called on President Adama Barrow to go for experienced people with love for country in his new cabinet and not intellectuals.
Foday Gassama, a former nominated National Assembly Member, added: “We have seen a lot of intellectuals who have been appointed as ministers but failed to deliver even in the former president Jammeh’s era and at the end of the day, they were dismissed from cabinet.”
Gassama said the president must scrutinise potential candidates carefully and select the best ones to avoid having saboteurs in the system.
“There are lots of saboteurs in the past five years and he should not allow that to happen again,” he urged.
Gassama, a former UDP youth official, called on party leader Ousainu Darboe to now accept the election results and move on.
Commenting on general matters, Gassama said he is worried by the rise in prices of basic commodities and called for necessary regulation to curb illegal profiteering.
