The Secco price for a ton of groundnut is D18,000 this season.
A press release from the Gambia Food, Processing and Marketing Corporation, the government parastatal running the groundnut trade, also announced that the deport price for a ton is D19,500.
The release further stated that farmers must take their nuts to their nearest seccos.
This year’s price is slightly better than last year’s, as all payments will be on the spot as opposed to credit buying which has been the complaint of most farmers over the years.
The season begins on Monday 16th December and ends on 15 March, 2020.
