The former chief of Foni Bintang Karanai, Alfusainey Jarjue, is the new national chairman of the Gambia Action Party.
Chief Jarjue was nominated by the GAP executive to hold the position until the party goes to its next congress. His nomination came shortly after he announced leaving the APRC and joining the Musa Batchilly party.
Mr Jarjue was installed chief during the regime of President Jammeh under the APPC government. He was later dismissed from office in 2019.
Jarjue served as the the president of the West Coast Region Land Tribunal and as adviser of the National Council of Alkalolu as well as the spokesman of National Council of Chiefs under the then paramount chief, Alhaji Demba Sanyang.
