The President of Federation Internationale de Football Corporate [FIFCO] Albert Zbily who arrived in The Gambia Sunday on a visit has said that he came to promote the ideals of the federation which he said is to promote adult sports.
Mr Zbily was speaking to journalists shortly after meeting Officials of the National Sports Council and the minister of sports Henry Gomez at the Independence stadium.
Zbily, a Canadian, also said he is hoping to be working with local partners and stakeholders in creating presence in The Gambia.
According the FIFCO president the federation deals with football but its message is cut across all sports bodies to ensure that employers and companies engage their staff to be active and to stay healthy,
“What we do at is FIFCO to indulge corporate companies to promote sports amount the workers to keep them active an not to stay at one place behind a computer. I set this up ten years with no members but now we have over 2 million people across over 50 countries embracing and participating in the ideals of FIFCO,” he said.
Mr said how fast FIFCO is represented in The Gambia depends on how quick the local partners are able to set something on the ground here. The minster of youth sports Henry Gomez and the NSC chairman Borry Darboe both thanked Mr for his visit and pledge to work with the federation in promoting its ideals in The Gambia. Observer believe that Mr Zbilys trip and discussion could eventually lead to the birth of a FIFCO federation.
