By Juldeh Njie The staff of Gamtel/Gamcel have yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sanna Singhateh commonly known as ST—Brikama Boyo. The brief signing ceremony was held at Gamcel office in Kanifing. According to the staff of Gamtel, the memorandum of understanding was triggered by the company’s readiness to create opportunities for the younger generation, thus helping the company gain more recognition. In his opening remarks, the director of commercial service, Gamtel/Gamcel, Sarjo Khan expressed gratitude to the management of Gamtel /Gamcel which he said is the mother of all GSM companies in the country, while urging the young artist to keep the momentum. “When we started many people have proclaimed Gamcel/Gamtel is the company of officers and the old generation, Gamcel is here for the nation. We have no boundaries; the company serves every citizen of the country and non citizens. But then we have to be seen playing in every segment of the market. We are looking forward to see youths coming on board to join the management to take this company to the higher height and that’s why we travelled all the way to Brikama to get ST.” “We are very happy to be associated with the artist, there are lot of artists around. I think we owe it to each other and give gratitude to each other as well. You are a Gambian and the company is Gambian—so it is us. “Gamcel belongs to the people, so therefore it is everybody’s company.” He added that a signaifant percentage of the users are youths and “that is why we are shifting our strategies, the attention is to the youths”. Speaking earlier, the deputy general manager, Gamcel, Fatou Fatty, expressed gratitude for the new partnership with ST and hailed the management of Gamcel for their job well done. She said ST was chosen not only for his songs and the huge fan base but it is as a result of his discipline. Fatty expressed optimism that ST will do as expected, and assured him of their full support, saying “we want to change the people’s perception that this company is for the older generation.” Modou Lamin Jammeh, the media director/spokeman for ST, thanked the management of Gamtel/Gamcel for choosing ST, promising that they will deliver to expectation. Jammeh assured them of their commitment to the success of the partnership, saying the company chose the best artist in the country. Dembo Jobarteh, ST’s manager/promoter said: “ST is a great artist. He has been in the lead for the past 5 years; in open mics, shows and he also won the best artist of the year in 2014. That’s shows he has so much fans. “We are optimistic that we can turn our fans to be great customers of Gamcel/Gamtel.” For the man himself, money has got little to do with what he does and that is why he takes it seriously. “It is the starting point of my career. We have a bigger picture that we look up to, not just an event,” he said, promising to deliver as expected because it is the biggest contract of his career.]]>
