WHO GETS SJAG TOP AWARDS?

…provisional list of nominees unveiled

The Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia has revealed a long list of provisional nominees for the forthcoming annual national awards later this month.
Meant to recognised efforts of our sports men and women for the year under review, the Annual National Sports Award organized by SJAG is now slated for April 28th at Djembe Hotel.

The final list of nominees will be revealed later this week after the long list is trimmed down to at least three nominees in each category.

The following are the Categories and Nominees:
LOCAL BASED ATHLETE OF THE YEAR – Nominees – Musa Barrow (Hawks FC), Yankuba Jallow (Marimoo FC), Muhammed Kaba (GPA), Gina Bass (Police), Gregory Sambou (GPA), GK Christopher Allen (GPA) & Adama Jammeh (Prison).

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR – Nominees – Sona Saho (Police), Gina Bass (Police), Isatou Basse Jallow (Interior), Mariama Sowe (GAF Volleyball), Adama Tamba (Red Scorpions FC), Saffie Sawaneh (GAF Volleyball)&Abie Kujabi (GAF Volleyball).

BEST TEAM OF THE YEAR – Nominees – Interior Female FC, Brikama United FC, Ports Authority FC, SK West Basketball, GAF Female Volleyball & Marimoo FC.

EMERGING TALENT OF THE YEAR – Nominees – Mame Drammeh (Abuko Utd) & Fatoumata Sillah (Brikama Volleyball)

EMERGING SPORTS TEAM OF THE YEAR – Nominees – Beach Volleyball Female team, Gunjur’s Super Nawettan Team & Fortune FC

FOREIGN BASED ATHLETE OF THE YEAR – Nominees – Omar Colley (FC Genk), Modou Barrow (Leeds United) &Hamza Barry (HNK Hajduk Split), Modou Jobe (ASC Linguère)

EST COACH OF THE YEAR – Nominees – Alagie Sarr (GPA), Sulayman Kuyateh (Brikama Utd), Momodou Jallow (Marimoo), Lamin LF Badjie (GAF Volleyball), Mariama Boom Sowe (Interior Female FC), Abdoulie Ngum (SK West Basketball).

And for the BEST REFEREE OF THE YEAR – Nominees will be released when the final list is cut  down later this week. Therein, will also be the Honour list, Special Awards, Best Organisation in support of sport and the Sports Personality of the year – an award that draws down the curtain on the night.

This year’s night of glitz and glamour will mark the 8th edition  of the  Award organised by the Sports Journalists’ Association of the Gambia, and this year again organizers are looking forward to another successful event as we celebrate the pride of our country’s men and women striving for excellence in their respective disciplines for national sports development.
Like previous editions, this year’s award is expected to be graced
