Press release – Gambia For All

The Central Committee of the party met in an extraordinary session on Saturday 23rd October 2021 under the chairmanship of the party leader and secretary general, Bakary Dabo, to review the party’s preparations for the forthcoming presidential elections scheduled for December 4th 2021.

In his intervention, the secretary general emphasised the importance of the forthcoming presidential elections which offer Gambians a unique opportunity to place their destiny in the hands of a government willing and capable of piloting the transformational change needed as answer to the many complex challenges overwhelming our dear country.

In line with our commitment to work closely with other parties to bring about the system change which President Barrow’s coalition administration has failed to effect since coming into power, the secretary general briefed the meeting on the ongoing discussions with other parties sharing similar views. These talks were reported to be progressing with a number of opposition parties, and have now reached a critical stage. Efforts are underway to widen the participation with more opposition forces.

Reiterating the imperative need for a change, the meeting agreed that, in the prevailing circumstances, it makes eminent strategic sense for all political forces subscribing to that vision, to form a common front for achieving that overarching objective. In that regard, the meeting thanked the Secretary General for the efforts so far deployed in that direction, before renewing the mandate earlier given for the party leadership to pursue discussions with interested parties and other political forces with renewed sense of urgency, given the tight electoral calendar.

At the same time, the national executive secretariat was directed to take all appropriate measures to prepare the required documentation for the nomination of presidential candidates.
