Muhammed my Son,
I had a flash of inspiration this morning while on my routine morning beach walk; the flashy hunch was to do an essay on “The Guided Life” and I thought to do it as a letter addressed to you so that the essay itself would be guided and infused with the intimate authenticity that comes with personal conversations.
My good son, indeed ours is a world awash with theories and philosophies tainted with misguided notions and ulterior intentions. Unfortunately, people do unwittingly fall for some of the false prophets propagating these ideologies.
I have read, and I do follow, the works and words of all these thought, and belief, systems and I must admit that I have learned something from even the worst of them. But the fact remains that guidance, I mean authentic guidance to live a meaningful and peaceful life in this world and the hereafter can only come from the One True God as conveyed to humanity overtime by his guided True Prophets and Messengers.
Indeed Allah was unequivocal as well as unapologetic when he told us in His pure, unalterable scripture, the Holy Quran in the second verse of Surah Baqarah (which is preponderant with the story of the truly guided guide Moses): “This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah -”
So the Noble Quran is the True source of guidance and its principles and precepts were brought to us, and lived for us as exemplar, by the last and Seal of Allah’s messengers Muhammad (Sallalaahu alaihi wa Sallam ). It is a Book that is at once new and also old. As Allah elucidates in verse 111 of Surah Yusuf, He assures us “Never was the Qur’an a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and guidance and mercy for a people who believe.”
This is the true source of guidance and if you would study it and UNDERSTAND it; your life would be one of bliss in both this world and the hereafter…
Do not let anybody fool you or bamboozle you with eloquence, money or status. The truth is, and has always been, what Allah taught us in verse 18 of Surah Ali Imran: “Allah bears witness that there is no god but He, and (so do) the angels and those possessed of knowledge, maintaining His creation with justice; there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise.”
In parting, I am offering you this solemn prayer from the Holy Bible, 1 Chronicles 22:11, “Now, my son, the LORD be with you, and may you have success.”
With Love,
Momodou Sabally (Fafa)
