International Organization for Migration (I.O.M) The Gambia Office on Friday donated 350 brand new plastic buckets worth D303,176 to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) at a ceremony held at the ministry’s premises in Banjul.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Finance and Administration at MoBSE, Jerre Sanyang on behalf of Permanent Secretary, Louise Moses Mendy commended I.O.M officials for their gesture.
“Your donation is timely. And it will contribute a lot towards the hygiene of the students and their teaching force. No amount of gift is small under our eyes as a ministry and we value your efforts to the fullest,” DPS Sanyang informed I.O.M officials.
DPS Sanyang lauded the contributed I.O.M Banjul Office is rendering to the citizenry while stressing the need for Gambians to appreciate what I.O.M is doing in the country especially by coming to the aid of MoBSE.
He informed I.O.M officials that many organizations, groups of people, business entities and others have generously offered their help to the ministry since the sector launched an appeal for help in PPE to schools.
Migrant Health Officer at I.O.M Banjul office, Dr. Simeonette G. De Asis informed MoBSE senior officials that they are responding to the appealed made by the ministry for the supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to schools.
Dr. Asis expressed her organization’s sincere appreciation for being partnering with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education while also assured the ministry top brass that her organization will continue to offer to help the sector if need arise.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) for Programs at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Adama Jimba Jobe chaired the ceremony.
