Balla Garba Jahumpa, a former minister and diplomat known as Action Man who earlier announced he will run for president in 2026, has said he has now shelved the idea.

Speaking in an audio obtained by The Standard, Jahumpa said he will instead concentrate on the APRC which is now being reorganised ahead of the 2026 presidential election.

“My conscience would not allow me to abandon the APRC which I belong to for the last 29 years.  I have always believed that a big party like APRC should now produce kings instead of remaining as kingmakers and so I will dedicate all my energy towards the revitalisation of  the party,” Jahumpa said.

The son of first republic politician Garba Juhumpa, Action Man thanked all his fans and colleagues who supported him and would have been members of his planned party, the Democratic Party for Change, DPFC.
