Judge orders prisons boss to explain absence of murder suspect Buba Drammeh

Justice Osei Tutu of the High Court yesterday ordered the Director General of the Gambia Prison Services (GPS) to appear before his court on the 28th January, 2021 to explain the whereabouts of one Bubacarr Drammeh, a murder suspect in the Gunjur/ Berending crisis.

Justice Osei made this order pursuant to an application made by State Counsel M Mballow for the Director General of the Prison Services to appear before the said court to explain why the prison authority cannot produce the accused, Buba Drammeh to answer to charges preferred against him and his five co-accused persons.

Bubacarr Drammeh, Mamadi Ceesay, Muhammed Mbye, Abdoulie Sanyang, Adama Bojang and Wuyeh Sanyang are indicted with seven counts including murder, attempted murder and assault causing actual bodily harm.

Count one stated that Bubacarr Drammeh unlawfully caused the death of one Buba Jammeh with malice aforethought by shooting him with a gun on the 16th March, 2019 at the forest of Gunjur/Berending village in the Kombo South District, West Coast Region.

Bubacarr Drammeh was also alleged to have attempted to murder one Ebrima Darboe and Kunfa Jatta by shooting them with a gun on the 16th March, 2019 at the Gunjur/Berending forest in the Kombo South.
