Portuguese side Sporting has signed Lamarana Jallow, a 19-year-old Gambian midfielder who will reinforce the club’s Under-23 team, futebol nacional reported yesterday. The Gambia Under-20 international plays for Elite United FC in the Gambian first division.
Speaking to the futebol nacional, Jallow said: “I want to thank Sporting for the opportunity to play for a club with so much history and the current national champion. I am very happy to be part of this family, where great players took their first steps. I thank everyone who made this possible”. He added: “I have quality with and without the ball, I am technically good and I have the ability to pass. I can either play at 10 or take on the box-to-box role.”
The 19-year-old is one the most skill-gifted teenagers in Gambian football today.
Jallow stormed the footballing world during the U20 AFCON in Mauritania earlier this year where young Scorpions ended at third place by beating Tunisia on penalties.
The young midfielder wrote his name on the scoresheet against Ghana during the matchday 3 of the group stages as Gambia beat Black Satellites 2-1.
