Man ‘found’ with gun at checkpoint arraigned

One Momodou Yusupha Bah, a Senegalese national is currently standing trial on two counts of going armed in public and unlawful possession of firearm.

The prosecution alleged that Momodou Y Bah in  May, 2021 between 12 noon and 2pm at Senegambia check point in the Kanifing Municipality was found in possession of one EKOL Major Pistol with two ammunitions in his car without lawful authority.

The prosecution also alleged that Momodou Yusupha Bah was also found in possession of a cutlass in his vehicle.

However, Mr Bah pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of D250.000 in like sum by Magistrate Ebrima J Colley of Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

One witness has so far testified before the court and the vehicle is presently being kept at the Kairaba Police Station until the final determination of the case.

The Inspector General of Police was represented by Chief Inspector Touray.
