A 21-year-old man was arrested on Saturday in connection with the stabbing to death of his father in Farafenni, police confirmed to The Standard.
The suspect, Barakel Monday stabbed his father Benjamin Monday with a knife resulting to his death. Barakel is said be under custody, assisting police in their investigation. His father’s corpse has been moved to the hospital awaiting post-mortem examination.
Police spokesman ASP Lamin Njie could not give an account of the circumstances leading to the death of Benjamin. However, a footage of the incident was released online showing Benjamin sprawled on the ground with what appears as severe sustained injuries with his alleged killer son being restrained in cuffs.
Saturday’s murder is the latest in a series of rising homicide cases in the country alongside violent robberies which necessitated the launching of Operation Zero Crime by the police force.
