One Babucarr Sowe has pleaded guilty to a single count of defiling a 17-year-old girl.
The prosecution was led by Police Cadet Inspector Kemo Y. Manneh who posited that the accused met the victim sometime in March, 2019 in Farato Village in West Coast Region and expressed loving her which she accepted.
The prosecution further explained that soon after, a relationship developed and the victim got pregnant as was confirmed by Brikama Health Centre.
The accused was arrested by the police, cautioned, charged and arraigned before Brikama Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement contrary to section 5(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 2013.
The medical and birth certificates of the victim were entered into evidence.
The presiding magistrate Omar Cham remanded the accused person and adjourned the matter for sentencing.
Meanwhile in same court, two Guineans were arraigned before magistrate P. Sowe for stabbing one Momodou Jang Barry with a knife and scissors on his chest, stomach, neck and back on Gunjur beach earlier this month.
The duo has been remanded and the matter was adjourned to 25 November, 2019.
