A man, identified as Musa Njie, 18, and a native of Bundung, was found dead in a car in Pipeline, Fajara in the early hours of Thursday morning, The Standard has been informed yesterday.
The circumstances leading to the death of the young man could not be established at the time of writing this report. However, the tragic incident has spawned divided opinions among inhabitants of the area. Some of residents in the neighbourhood where the body was discovered told this paper that they suspected foul play in the death of Njie.
When contacted, the public relations officer of The Gambia Police Force, Assistant Superintendent Foday Conta, confirmed the death. The police, he said, are currently investigating the matter with a view to get to the root of the homicide.
Conta explained that a Sierra Leonean lady had told the police that the dead body was brought to her compound door and left there. She said she decided to remove the body and put it inside a car parked near a mechanic garage.
“At the moment, I cannot tell you whether there is any foul play. However, the police are investigating the matter. The body is currently at the mortuary,” he noted
