The governor of the North Bank Region, Ebrima KS Dampha has retired after some four years on the job.
He has handed over to his deputy Musa Seku Kanteh for smooth continuation of functions.
A letter signed by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs extended government’s gratitude for his invaluable service rendered to the Gambian people.
Mr Dampha’s first two years on the job was part of his normal civil service career but upon his retirement, he was given two-year contract which ended recently.
Government Spokesman Ebrima Sankareh confirmed to The Standard that Mr Dampha was never sacked. “He was a remarkable civil servant whose work ethics and accomplishment as Governor earned him the admiration of the government and the president.”
Dampha took over the mantle of governor from Alhaji Lamin Queen Jammeh in 2017.
