Police in Gunjur have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the mysterious deaths of at least 35 vultures in the town’s abattoir.
Reports reaching The Standard from the coastal town say the birds were found dead on Tuesday morning.

Some residents have suspected foul-play with some suggesting that the birds might have been used for rituals.
Sources told this medium that the dead vultures had missing heads, reinforcing the suspicion that they might have been used as charm for good fortune or to stave off harm.
Reports hinted that they were poisoned but police in Gunjur said the matter is being investigated and post-mortem would be conducted.
