Ebrima Sankareh, the spokesman of the Gambia Government has said that rumours spreading that vice President Ousainou Darboe has been sacked are not true. Through out the last few days wild rumours emerged online of the sacking of Mr Darboe. The vice president is the leader of the United Democratic Party, the biggest partner in the governing coalition government led by President Barrow whose relations with the party have soured considerably in the past few months.
But speaking to The Standard yesterday Government spokesman Sankareh said Vice President Darboe has not been sacked.
However The Standard has been told by other unconfirmed sources suggesting that the President had indeed contemplated sacking Mr Darboe but was only urged out of it by some advisers.
