The Standard has been reliably informed that the former state guard commander, General Saul Badjie, and two others, Major Landing Tamba and WO2 Musa Badjie were taken to the Police Headquarters yesterday evening for interrogation.

Two weeks ago, the former powerful state guard commander implicated in several alleged crimes by the TRRC returned to Banjul from Equatorial Guinea with nearly a dozen personal security details of former president Yahya Jammeh. Since they arrived in the country, they were being held at some undisclosed location.

But last night a reliable security source told The Standard: “I can confirm to you that General Saul Badjie, Major Landing Tamba and WO2 Musa Badjie were taken to the police headquarters for questioning”.

In its report, the TRRC recommended that Saul Badjie be prosecuted for, among other things, his alleged participation in the killing of 9 death row inmates and the attempted murder of Lawyer Ousman Sillah.

The testimonies before the TRRC also alleged that Saul Badjie gave the order on behalf of Yahya Jammeh to the Junglers to eliminate Baba Jobe; according to Pa Ousman Sanneh, Saul Badgie allegedly participated in the physical torture of the 2006 alleged coupists; was a member of investigative panels at the NIA who used torture against accused persons and knew that the UDP detainees were being tortured in 2016 but failed to prevent, investigate or punish the perpetrators.

The report also recommended the prosecution of Landing Tamba and Musa Badjie for their alleged involvement in the killing of West-African migrants.
