“My client actually arrived on French soil on Wednesday morning around 7am and he soon joined his Paris home where he is resting to recover from the appalling conditions of his detention in Senegal,” Mr Abdoulaye Tine, his lawyer was quoted as saying.
Born in France to Gambian parents, Bayo leads a political grouping, the National Transitional Council of The Gambia, which was formed in 2012 in Senegal and has constantly threatened to remove President Jammeh from power by violent means.
He had been placed under detention in Senegal after the December 30 attack on State House.
The interior ministry of Senegal has since ordered his expulsion and Bayo lost his battle to stay in that country when the Supreme Court of Senegal on Tuesday okayed his deportation.
