The body of a Gambian soldier was fished out of a well in Madiana Village near Tanji yesterday.
According to Army Spokesman Major Lamin Sanyang, the soldier Corporal Baboucar MS BAH, was posted at Yundum Barracks and is reported to be on sick leave. His body is currently at the EFSTH for examination as investigations continue.
“We have not yet concluded exactly what led to his death and under what circumstances he ended up in that well,” PRO Sanyang said.
The Army Spokesman would not also comment on the nature of the body as he was not in person at the scenes. He promised a thorough and prompt investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, one Cherno Jammeh lost his life yesterday after he was stabbed with knife.
The suspect, called Ninja, is believed to be a nephew of the victim, has been taken into custody for alleged murder.
Police spokesman Spt David Kujabi confirmed the incident. Other sources said the duo were involved in a quarrel while at work making blocks.
Sources said the two have been living in the same compound in Bakau Sanchaba.
